Aristotle on categories: their list, the method to identify them, the problem with their metaphysical status.
Kant on categories: their list, the method to identify them ("deduction") and their epistemological status.
Mac Lane on categories: the mathematical formulation of category theory (basic notions). References to other perspectives and critical analysis of the problems left by each of the three main ways of looking at the notion of category.
