Course Content
The course provides an overview about the characteristics and specificities of digital publishing and media, in terms of formats, devices and production standards. Will be presented the scenarios and digital publishing trends, the evolution of digital contents on the web and their properties, the characteristics of social media, the buyers attitudes, perspectives and new models of proposal and sale of digital contents.

Learning Objectives
• Know and be able to recognize the factors of crisis and transition from traditional to digital paradigm, interpreting them in the light of the two publishing industries development.
• Know the main changes brought about by digital in the various areas (production, commercial, economic, marketing and communication).
• Have a framework on the new systems, products, services, processes, ways of publication.
• Know the main encoding formats and DRM systems, and related applications.
• Know the main features and issues related to digital production processes.
• Know how to interpret the lines of digital publishing development in the light of changes taking place both in the specific editorial context and web.
• Know the main changes brought about by digital in the various areas (production, commercial, economic, marketing and communication).
• Have a framework on the new systems, products, services, processes, ways of publication.
• Know the main encoding formats and DRM systems, and related applications.
• Know the main features and issues related to digital production processes.
• Know how to interpret the lines of digital publishing development in the light of changes taking place both in the specific editorial context and web.
Prerequisites
Course intended for students of the second year of the Master of Science in Communication Theories.
